Gordon River Cruise Stanely

Day One

Russell Falls/ Lake St Clair/ Queenstown

Departs Hobart at approx. 9.00 a.m.

We pick up from your accommodation and travel to Mt Field National Park and Russell Falls, walk along side the world’s largest flowering trees and the tallest hardwoods in the world. We then travel to Derwent Bridge and Lake St Clair the deepest lake in Australia at 167 metres. Then follow the Lyell Hwy through to Queenstown via the King William Range and Victoria Pass for overnight accommodation at Queenstown. DBB.

Day Two

Mt Jukes/ Bird River/Kelly Basin

Depart Queenstown at approx. 8.30 a.m.

Today will be spent in the rainforest area of the famous West Coast. Travel into the World Heritage Area and see Tasmania’s best unspoilt wilderness, 4wd tracks and walks. This will take up most of the day then return to Queenstown or Strahan for overnight accommodation. DBB.

Day Three

Gordon River Cruise

Depart Queenstown at approx 8.00 a.m.

This morning we take the winding road to Strahan to catch the Gordon River cruise; this will take you up the Gordon River to see spectacular scenery and reflections of the true wilderness rainforest. Walk through the forest at Heritage Landing before returning to Strahan via Hells Gates arriving back at approx. 2.00 p.m. We then travel out to see Ocean Beach and mutton-bird rookeries, and then return to Strahan for a free afternoon exploring the many sights such as Strahan Visitor Centre, Hogarth Falls and shops. Overnight accommodation at Strahan . DBB.

Day Four

Zeehan/Pieman River/Stanley

Depart at approx 8.30 a.m.

This morning we travel to Pieman River which we cross on the FATMAN BARGE, arriving at Corinna on the other side of the Pieman River where we have morning tea. We then proceed by the Western Explorer Highway to the historic village of Stanley via Couta Rocks, Arthur River and Marrawah for overnight accommodation at Stanley DBB.

Day Five:

Stanley/Burnie/Devonport/Leven Canyon

Depart at approx 8.00 am.

Today we explore the North West Coast on our way to the Leven Canyon arriving at our secluded accommodation. You can feed the native animals close by and may even glimpse a platypus before you retire. Overnight accommodation at Mountain Valley DBB.

Day Six

Sheffield/Mole Creek/Central Plateau/Hobart

Depart at approx 8.30 am.

Today we travel through back roads and valleys to Sheffield, town of murals, then through Paradise and Mole Creek and up to the Central Plateau. After lunch see some of our best highland lakes before taking back roads through the forest to return to Hobart or Launceston, arriving at approx 6.00 p.m. Tour concludes.
