We
travel through the peaceful Derwent Valley to Mount Field National
Park. After
morning tea we drive to Lake Dobson, where you may wish to do the short
Pandani
Grove rainforest walk. Then to the double cascades of Russell Falls,
the most
photographed waterfall in Tasmania. Lazy and gentle in dry weather,
white
thunder after rain. The path to the falls is sealed and level, quite
safe for
wheelchairs or take the Tall Trees walk which takes you through forest
that features
the world's tallest species of flowering plant, magnificent swamp
gums. After lunch we head out to Mount
Tim Shea, which overlooks the Florentine Valley and the World Heritage
Area and
then back to Hobart.
Wear
sturdy walking shoes and bring a hat, sunburn cream, insect repellent,
water
container, some warm woollen clothes and a waterproof jacket,
regardless of the
season. It can be cold in alpine areas.
